Styled By The City: Ria L. (@Sp1kek1tty)

Nashua, NH

This week’s Styled By The City spotlight features Ria L., whose fashion sense is as bold and fluid as the identities she celebrates through style. Repping Nashua, NH, Ria leans into a mash-up of Y2K, grunge, and androgyny, delivering looks that feel like they time-traveled straight from an early-2000s dreamscape with a modern twist.

Summer Uniform: Denim, Drama, and Duality

“With the warmer weather, I’m going all in on Y2K,” Ria shares. Think low-rise jeans, statement belts, and tops with cut-outs—layered effortlessly with maxi or mini skirts, depending on the mood. Nights out? It’s all about a light leather or faux fur jacket. On more casual days, you’ll catch her rocking jorts, graphic tees, and trainers, blending androgynous energy with ease.

Closet Staple

Ria’s go-to? A fur-trimmed denim jacket found on Depop. “It’s so comfy and still not too heavy for spring,” she says. “It goes with everything and adds that extra bit of spice to an outfit.”

Where She Shops

A secondhand queen, Ria gives love to online favorites like Depop, and frequents local gems including Fragile State (Lowell), Vivant Vintage, Friends and Family, and of course, Diversity Consignment in Boston. “Some of the best items in my closet are from these spots,” she says. “I try to buy mostly secondhand, but I do indulge in fast fashion sometimes.”

Thrift Philosophy

“I mix everything,” Ria explains. “I’ll wear half thrifted, half new, or sometimes all thrifted. There are no rules—if I like how it looks, I wear it.” A recent score? A vintage denim maxi skirt softer and cuter than anything in retail stores.

Style Inspiration

Ria takes major style notes from early 2000s anime like Nana and Paradise Kiss, both of which blend punk, glam, and high fashion. “They’ve got some of the best fits I’ve ever seen,” she says. Instagram is another key influence. “I see looks on there I never would've imagined myself.”

Rule Breaker Energy

“I don’t like to stick to just one style,” Ria says. “What I wear depends on how I feel that day. There are too many good looks out there to choose just one lane.”
