Why Taking Time to Reset Makes You More Productive

We’re selling a shoe — but we can’t find the pair anywhere in the endless sea of single shoes in the back stockroom. And it’s like… how did it even get to this point where we can’t locate a single shoe?

Oh — right. We haven’t taken a single break to organize. Duh.

Matter can’t be created or destroyed, right? It just gets… moved around.

I think about this a lot when we’re in the daily grind — constantly doing, doing, doing. We take on more and more, tasks pile up, and everything slowly turns into clutter (physical and mental).

When you’re in a productivity mindset, one of the last things you tend to think about is general maintenance or improving systems. But sometimes, that’s exactly what we need in order to actually be more productive.

Taking a day — or even a few hours — to reset, reorganize, and clean up the chaos can make a huge difference in our efficiency and sanity.

If you’re feeling frustrated because you can’t find things you know are there, try taking a reset day. You might be surprised by how much clarity and productivity comes back once everything is organized again.
