Every day I drop my toddler off at school, and as soon as I hand him over to the teacher, he looks back and starts crying. Trying new things can be scary — we all know this.
But after a couple of minutes, once he realizes I’m gone and remembers how much he loves the activities at school, he’s back to his outgoing, confident, fun self.
So what can we learn from a toddler?
The fear isn’t really about the activity — it’s about leaving comfort behind, even for a moment. But when we consistently put ourselves into unfamiliar situations, we slowly build the mental resilience to handle them better and better.
Step outside your comfort zone. Try something new. Watch the growth unfold right in front of you. Before long, you’ll look back and wonder why you were ever afraid to make the change in the first place.
