When Every Part Works Together
I’m currently reading a book called The Aesthetics of the Japanese Lunchbox, and I’ve found it fascinating to relate some of its insights to the operation we’re building here at Diversity.
One concept that stands out is the idea of different divisions of labor working together to create a harmonious final result. Each individual part plays a role in shaping the whole.
At Diversity, there are many moving parts that have to work in synchronicity: the intake process, measuring and sizing, photography and marketing, layout and presentation—all ultimately leading to the final customer experience.
If even one part of that system falls out of sync, the divisions that follow can begin to unravel. It’s similar to the checks and balances you see in the medical field when you go to pick up a prescription—though, thankfully, with far less catastrophic consequences.
Building a business with this level of focus on process and detail can be challenging. But when everything comes together and each part supports the others, the results can shine through in a powerful way.
If you’ve ever visited the store and made a purchase, you’ve likely felt what that looks like in practice.
