Spotlight: Esraa Al-Jubory on Breaking Fashion Rules and Flipping Shirts into Hoods

This season, we’re shining a spotlight on Esraa Al-Jubory—a bold, colorful, and unapologetically creative force repping Quincy. Known on social media as @__babylonian, Esraa’s style turns heads and rewrites fashion norms in the most inventive ways.

We sat down with Esraa to chat about what’s inspiring her this season, how she approaches thrifting, and why some of her best outfits come from so-called fashion "disasters."

Q: How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Esraa: “Bold, colorful, and rule-breaker.”

Q: What are you wearing this season?
Esraa: “Layering makes everything more fun. I’ve been playing around with proportions and textures—it’s like building an outfit from a mood.”

Q: Do you have a current go-to item in your closet?
Esraa: “My skirts have been really experimental and unconventional lately. They’re the kind of pieces that make you rethink silhouettes.”

Q: Where do you love to shop?
Esraa: “Locally, always! I love discovering pieces with a story behind them.”

Q: How do you mix thrifted or consigned clothing into your wardrobe?
Esraa: “Most of the pieces I find are one of a kind, and I mix them in ways you can’t even tell. I’ve flipped a shirt into a hood or turned a button-up into a bottom. Thrifting isn’t just ethical—it’s a way to expand my creative vision.”

Q: Who or what inspires your style?
Esraa: “Realizing that everything around me is art. I love the idea of causing disruption with my outfits. When people ask questions or get curious, it sparks conversation—and I think that’s powerful. I want people to feel like it’s okay to try things that are outside of their comfort zone.”

Q: What’s one fashion rule you like to break—or make your own?
Esraa: “Stop shopping for every outing! Look at what’s already in your closet and play. Most of my favorite outfits came from disastrous GRWMs where I felt like I had nothing to wear. That pressure ends up forcing creativity.”

From turning basics into statement pieces to treating every outfit like an act of rebellion, Esraa is proof that style gets more exciting when you stop following the rules.
