You’re Only as Strong as Your Team

Growing up, the only thing that really mattered to me was team sports. To say I was obsessed would be an understatement. I was the kid outside as soon as the sun came up—and still out there well past sunset, usually not coming inside until my name was being yelled from the back porch.

I think about Diversity the same way I think about a team.

I might be great at hitting, but if I don’t have a teammate who can field, we’re headed for a shootout. I can’t be the best everywhere on the field, which means I need teammates who are better than me in areas where I’m not.

“You’re only as strong as your weakest link” isn’t just a saying—it’s a reality I’ve seen play out on countless teams that fell short of a championship. The same is true in business.

That’s why we aim to be strong in every facet of the consignment experience—from customer interaction all the way through to social media. It’s always a work in progress, but progress is the point.

Our partnerships and collaborations follow that same team-first mindset. I’m constantly looking at where our structure is weakest and welcoming teammates who can step in and strengthen those areas. That’s what real, positive growth looks like.
