Riders Jeans Vintage Straight Grey Men’s Size 36
A classic example of American workwear denim evolving into everyday casual style.
The Brand & Its History
Riders by Lee was introduced by the legendary denim company Lee, founded in 1889 in Salina, Kansas. Lee originally produced durable garments for railroad workers, cowboys, and laborers across the American West. In the 1940s, Lee launched the “Riders” line—jeans designed specifically for rodeo riders and working cowboys who needed durable, flexible denim.
The Riders line became widely known for its practical construction, sturdy denim, and relaxed fits, which later translated easily into everyday fashion as denim moved from workwear into mainstream wardrobes.
The Era & Style
Straight-leg jeans like this became especially popular in the late 1980s through the 1990s, when denim silhouettes shifted away from the tighter fits of earlier decades toward more relaxed, comfortable cuts. Grey and black washes also gained popularity during this time as alternatives to traditional indigo denim, influenced by streetwear, skate culture, and grunge fashion.
The result is a pair of jeans that reflects the intersection of heritage workwear and 90s casual style.
